#MyHeartyLife | Week 2

Last year I loved joining in with What the Redhead Said’s Living Arrows but this year I wanted to mix it up a little so I was very excited when I found Mary’s new Linky #MyHeartyLife. Each week I will be sharing what we have been up to and what cheerful moments we’ve experienced.

THIS WEEK…

It’s been another week that has just passed us by in the blink of an eye. Neil returned to work on Monday which was a bit of a shock to the system after two weeks off, and Dexter returned to childcare. He’s had four fun filled days in the woods, at soft play, at playgroup and at Maghull library. We spent Wednesday together chilling out and watching TV inbetween cleaning and throwing the odd tantrum. The weekend was taken up by a birthday party at a local soft play which involved yet more tantrums and sweaty toddlers, and a trip to the beach to blow away all the wintery cobwebs!

GRATEFUL FOR…

My husband’s patience when dealing with Dexter’s never ending temper tantrums. We really are in the midst of a really bad period which is seeing Dexter throwing things, screaming and hitting out if he doesn’t get his own way. My husband always remains calm, explains to Dexter exactly why he can’t do whatever it is he wants to do and patiently waits for the tears to end while soothing him with cuddles. He is much calmer than me and I am very grateful for that.

SUCCESS…

We began the week with a delivery from Morrisons and I wrote a meal plan which we have stuck to religiously. Monday was a basil and tomato pasta, Tuesday I had supernoodles (my guilty pleasure) as Neil was training, Wednesday was salmon and potatoes, Thursday was cottage pie, Friday was a takeaway (treat night!), Saturday was a homemade curry with popadums and naan bread and Sunday was a homemade spaghetti bolognese. I’m really happy we stuck to the plan which means we’ve avoided over spending, wastage and eating unhealthily.

FOUND BEAUTY IN…

My most beautiful moments this week have been spent with Dexter. We had a lovely ten minutes in the car on Sunday after visiting the beach where he was earnestly looking me in the eye and trying to describe what he could see outside the window. It was all gobbledegook of course, but I maintained the eye contact and listened while he pointed and babbled and when he was ready to take a breather, I talked about what I could see too and asked him a few questions which prompted more speech. He has definitely started trying to repeat what I am saying this week and I have a feelign we are about to have an explosion of vocabulary any day now.

The Hearty Life

#MyHeartyLife is a weekly linky celebrating the goodness in life that week! The things you were grateful for, succeded at, and generally just beautiful. Whether big or small, share them in a post and realise the little beauties in life, despite the shortcomings, storms and failures!

I love how beauty is found in the simplest of things and moments. But yes – Check you out with your meal plans and sticking to it, thats brilliant! I am usually good at this but some weeks I can’t even be bothered haha or rather am too done in to be bothered. I feel your pain with the tantrums – miss 18m old is on the verge of this and they keep creeping into our days too. Thank you so much for linking up hope this week has been great xx

Thank you Mary, the tantrums can be pretty rough but with lots of empathy this week we’ve noticed they’ve reduced greatly. Looking forward to linking up again next week x
