Review: Perfect Fit 4 in 1 Little Tikes Trike

We’ve been big fans of the Little Tikes range since Dex was born and were so happy when we were gifted a 3 in 1 Little Tikes trike from my Mum last year. Dexter loved that thing and was in his element riding up and down Liverpool’s Waterfront looking out to sea and waving at all the people who passed by. Little Tikes recently got in touch after seeing a photo we posted of Dex on his trike on Instagram and asked if we would capture some shots of him in their new Perfect Fit 4 in 1 trike. How could I resist when they offered to send it out in teal, my absolute favourite colour and also the colour of his travel system!

Features

The trike claims to be 4 in 1 lasting from a mere 9 months old up to the age of five. The first stage is guided and is suitable for babies who are 9 months old and older. The second stage is learning which is perfect for babies that have reached one year of age. The third stage is developing and this is for babies who are 18 months and older and the final fourth stage is indépendant which is for toddlers who are around 30 months and older. The trike is adaptable to fit each stage and starts off being a vehicle that has parental control in the form of a steering handle along with a protective foot rest for delicate feet and ends up being a stand alone trike that is completely controlled by the child with pedals and a large storage bucket.

The Little Tikes trike also comes with a removable and adjustable UV protected canopy perfect for hot days down at the beach and a parental storage tray for storing that very much needed Starbucks when you are on the go.

What We Love

I love that the Little Tikes trike will last Dex for years, growing with him as he hits each developmental stage.

The colour is absolutely gorgeous and is also available in pink. (I’d still choose teal every time)

The storage bucket is big enough to hold Dexter’s rucksack containing his cup, nappies, wipes and a few snacks. He also has his own little console which doubles up as a safety bar and drink and snack holder which very perfectly holds a babycino cup from Starbucks meaning we can both look totally cool as we are strolling round town.

The seat adjusts to four different positions making it easy to find the right position for your toddler no matter their height.

Adore the parent convenience tray for my drink on the go. Finally a cup holder that holds the cup tightly and doesn’t spill the contents everywhere!

The trike can be used both indoors and outdoors which is great because when we get home Dex isn’t keen on wanting to get out of it!

Overall Thoughts

Its worth bearing in mind that the trike does require some building so don’t do what we did and take it down the beach in its box expecting it to be already assembled! You will require a screwdriver as well. The trike is by no means lightweight which is worth noting if you are a weakling like me. It also doesn’t fold so transporting it in our tiny car comes with difficulty so we try and use the trike locally where possible.

Although Little Tikes claim that toddler should be ready for the third stage by 18 months we have found that even at 22 months, this is not the case. Dexter is described that all who meet him as a really tall toddler and people are often shocked at how young he actually is, but he cannot yet reach the pedals even with the waist protector taken off. For this reason we are still using the trike in the second stage where we as parents have all the control.

That being said, Dexter is a huge fan of the trike and will try and get on it and outdoors at every given opportunity so when it comes to getting an honest review of this product, it doesn’t come much clearer than that! Little Tikes have done it again with a fabulous trike that is gorgeous to look at and grows with your child making it a sound investment.

The foot brake is a welcome addition to the trike after experiencing a very windy Crosby beach a few weeks ago with the 3 in 1 trike which started rolling away very speedily! The foot break stop the trike from rolling off anywhere and means we can secure it in the flat when it’s not being used. Dex can’t be the only toddler who insists on pushing trikes and prams around their home can he?!

I adore that they’ve thought of storage, drinks and snacks giving us plenty of space for those needed essentials whenever you pop out to the beach or park. What Mum can survive a trip out without her dose of caffeine? Not me!

Look how much fun he’s having on his trike :o) Luca had a 3-in-1 trike for Christmas and he loves it. He gets to use it twice a day at least on the school run and like yours it has a little box on the back for carrying things (it’s a different cheaper brand so probably won’t last half as long). I could do with the brake on it as L has just realised he can shuffle forward in it if I’m talking to someone and he’s getting bored! And it might have stopped him tipping over sideways in it when he tried to reach something off a shelf in the supermarket.
