#MyHeartyLife | Week 5

#MyHeartyLife | Week 5

Welcome back to another week of  #MyHeartyLife. Each week I will be sharing what we have been up to and what cheerful moments we’ve experienced.

THIS WEEK…

We’ve had another lovely week as a family, making the most of the precious moments between working. On Wednesday, Dexter and I got up nice and early, drove Daddy to work before embarking on a trip to Wales. The previous night we’d had a bad time as Dexter had been in a foul mood due to tiredness when I picked him up from childcare; he went on to grab and scratch my face multiple times and unfortunately he went to bed in my bad books. I was determined to be more patient with him on our full day off together and we started the day off well by going to Greggs and I got Dexter his first ever sausage roll which he loved. In Wales, we went to my dad’s house before going out to do some shopping and having a lovely meal in a pub nearby.

We got back to Liverpool in the late afternoon and Dex hadn’t slept much so we cuddled in bed watching a movie. After tea, we got in bed to watch CBeebies bedtime hour with every light off in the house. Dex got himself settled under the duvet and at 6.30pm tried to get himself comfy on his front with his butt in the air! As much as I would have loved him to have a snooze in our bed, I knew there’d be no room for Daddy once he got back from the Everton game so off he went to his cot where he promptly fell asleep!

On Sunday we enjoyed a delicious roast beef dinner together as a family which is a rarity and Dexter and I baked some Nutella and banana pinwheels. Dexter is becoming better each day at following instructions and I am becoming better at letting him take part without worrying about the mess.

GRATEFUL FOR…

My Dad gifted us two beautiful canvas prints, one of me and Dexter and one of my husband and Dexter. The quality of the photos are amazing considering the size of the canvas and I was very overwhelmed when they were given to me. They are now proudly displayed in our bedroom. I can’t wait for us to have our own home to hang them in.

SUCCESS…

When we arrived at the pub for some lunch on Wednesday, we’d been up since around 6am and Dexter still hadn’t napped. I was worried about how he would be as we waited for our food and worried he wouldn’t consume anything. Although he was desperate to run around, he did his best to sit at the table with us and some crayons and when the food came he was as good as gold and ate the whole lot up. We had some tears afterwards whilst we were waiting for dessert and it became clear he needed his sleep immediately, but on the whole I was very pleased with how it went. Going out to restaurants, pubs and cafes is pretty much my worst nightmare at the moment as I have no idea how he is going to react!

FOUND BEAUTY IN…

Have you noticed the days getting longer yet? It is all that is on my mind. On Monday I left work at 5pm which is a little early for me and was surprised to see it was still light. The lighter evenings bring beautiful views from my balcony over the Mersey and I am so looking forward to experiencing them every evening.

You have such a gorgeous view from your balcony! You’ll miss it loads when you move!! I totally agree about meals out being a nightmare, I wouldn’t mind if I knew what to expect but sometimes they can be angels and the next time… horrific!!! Toddlers, eh?!

What a gorgeous picture there at the end! I love that the nights are getting lighter, it makes life more exciting!

The pictures are gorgeous and well done for surviving the journey and eating out with a tot – both can be disastrous so that’s brilliant! I love hearing of your weekly bakes, they always sound so delish. x #Myheartylife

What a lovely gift from your Dad. I love those ordinary moments captured on film that say so much to you about the love within your family.
Hooray for super tired Dex having a great lunch out. It’s so normal for us parents to think the worse when the risk factors for meltdowns add up but these kiddos have a way of surprising us don’t they. I often find with my boys if they do act out it’s them responding to the ”eeeeek” vibes I might be giving out. Trust is such an important of parenting I’m learning!
