Felix is approaching his first birthday and it’s almost time for me to return to the workplace. The days of lounging around in hoodies and leggings, make up free, not caring at all whether I’ve brushed my hair of not are coming to an end and it’s time to reclaim a little bit of my identity.
When I first became a Mum back in 2016, nothing was more important than me losing the baby weight and being able to fit into my old clothes. With Dexter I gained a whopping four stone so it was quite a battle to get back down to my usual 8.5 stone, but this time I haven’t put anywhere near as much effort in.
Twelve months down the line and I’m still 1.5 stone heavier than I was pre-pregnancy and honestly, I’m okay with that. I eat well, I enjoy the odd glass of wine (or three on a weekend!) and I’m active without dragging myself to the gym every day, so it’s not surprising the weight hasn’t dropped off quite as dramatically. After Dexter, I was teetotal, kept my calories to less than 1200 a day and exercised religiously – this time, I simply can’t be bothered – I’m having way too much fun with my boys, working on this blog and enjoying some much needed downtime on the weekends with a takeaway and a bottle of wine.
Of course, going up a dress size or two has meant quite a lot of items in my wardrobe no longer fit, which has resulted in me sticking to leggings, hoodies and vest tops over the last few months. But with the opportunity of a new job on the horizon (more of that to come on the blog over the next few weeks), it’s time to find my new identity as a Mum of two, get some new bits for my wardrobe and start taking some time for me again.
Luckily for me, Femme Luxe came to the rescue and sent me a few bits to get me started on finding myself and updating my wardrobe and I’m so excited to show you the bits I’ve tried.
Blue High Waist Paper Bag Skinny Jeans
I would live in skinny jeans if I could, but unfortunately the majority in my wardrobe are now too small for me. However I now have this lovely pair of high waist paper bag skinny jeans to pair with a nice top for a night out or a plain white t-shirt and boots for a casual look during the day. Skinny jeans are so flattering and this pair also comes with the added bonus of being high waisted to cover up that Mum tum too!
Black High Waisted Faux Leather Look Leggings
Adding to my high waisted jeans, are these high waisted leather look leggings which again are perfect for both nights out and days out. Again, I like to pair these leggings with a white t-shirt and matching pumps for a casual look or they go really well with a shirt dress on these cold autumn nights, as I’m getting far too old to go out bare-legged!
Black Chain Print Belted Satin Shirt Dress
It’s been a while since I’ve donned a nice dress and gone out for the evening, but now I have this beautiful satin shirt dress in my wardrobe, it’s high time I schedule drinks out with the girls. As well as pairing this with my new leather look leggings, it goes well with tights and heels or with thigh high boots.
Camel Waterfall Duster Belted Long Coat
No wardrobe is complete without a coat, and this classic waterfall duster belted coat is the perfect addition. It goes perfectly with jeans and sneakers or indeed with a heels and a snazzy top for a lunch date. It’s totally versatile!

Your style will be revolutionised with a punk-style skirt such as the one above. It may feel like this sort of style might not be appropriate for a mother of two, but I beg to disagree!
