Getting Festive this Christmas with Hallmark at Tesco | Gifted
I love this time of year, the dark evenings, our cosy couch, spending time in our warm living room while the snow gently falls outside and listening to Christmas music while wrapping presents and writing cards.
It doesn’t take much for me to feel Christmassy, but the most important bit has to be getting the house ready. Even with a toddler who LOVES to put his hands on everything he can reach, I wasn’t going to miss the opportunity to put up and decorate our tree. I was so pleased when Dexter was happy to help me do it instead of attempting to destroy it. He even helped me place the baubles and tried to count them as he did so. So cute! While we decorated we put on our favourite Christmas tunes. I love Band Aid’s Do They Know It’s Christmas and I can’t wait for Dexter to be able to sing along with me.
Once the house is clean, tidy and appropriately decorated (including getting rid of the Halloween crafts!), it’s time to relax on the sofa with a movie. Naturally, we needed some Christmassy snacks including chocolates, mince pies, strawberry Santas and festive hot cocoa. Each of us have our own preference of film; I’m into the classic A Christmas Carol starring Alistair Sim whereas the only movie Dexter has ever sat through continuously is Polar Express. My husband, on the other hand is a massive Will Ferrell fan so favours Elf. It’s important as a Mum to choose your battles, so of course we ended up watching Polar Express for the fifteenth time this month. Hey, anything that keeps an active 18 month old still for an hour and a half is an absolute miracle in my book!
What better way to finish off a festive afternoon than by sitting and writing cards to friends and family? Last year Hallmark at Tesco released a range of Elf cards perfect to share with your loved ones.
Dexter spent about three minutes trying to help write the cards, but then he decided he’d rather stuff his face with more mince pies and who was I to stop him? Christmas only comes once a year after all!
