#MyHeartyLife | Week 1

6th January 2018

Last year I loved joining in with What the Redhead Said‘s Living Arrows but this year I wanted to mix it up a little so I was very excited when I found Mary’s new Linky #MyHeartyLife. Each week I will be sharing what we have been up to and what cheerful moments we’ve experienced.

Happy New Year! My husband and I celebrated the new year with a Mexican takeaway, a few bottles of Peroni and a bottle of champagne. The next day we went out for a lovely meal with my father-in-law and his partner in Rainhill where we are baked Camembert and I enjoyed a mixed grill. It was back to work for me on Tuesday, but that evening we visited Ikea in Warrington where we picked up a few Montessori bits for Dexter and had a delicious meal in the restaurant. Dexter LOVED his sweet potato fries and demolished a corn on the cob.

The rest of the week was spent working while my husband stayed at home with Dexter. The house looks like a bomb has hit it so I guess I’ll be spending the rest of the weekend tidying up and preparing for next week!

This week my Dad was discharged from hospital after ten long weeks stuck in a hospital bed. I am very grateful to his surgeon Mr Ben Liu who has taken the time to see him pretty much every single day over the past ten weeks and has done a marvellous job at saving his life and putting him back together again. I’m also very grateful to my friends and colleagues who have been tremendously supportive throughout the past few weeks.

We’ve finally managed to get Dexter back to sleeping through the night after two weeks of constant wake ups! We have three new teeth to show for it and a toddler who no longer had a snotty nose, although considering he will be back at the childminder’s from Monday, I think we can safely assume the normal nasal drip will resume pretty quickly.

We rung in the New Year on our balcony overlooking Liverpool’s iconic waterfront. It was beautiful to watch the fireworks going off across the Wirral and felt pretty poignant as this will definitely be our final year in this apartment. I hope you all had a lovely New Year too.

The Hearty Life

#MyHeartyLife is a weekly linky celebrating the goodness in life that week! The things you were grateful for, succeded at, and generally just beautiful. Whether big or small, share them in a post and realise the little beauties in life, despite the shortcomings, storms and failures!
