If you’re a Mum like me, you know how hard it can be to recover from having a baby, or multiple babies. Our bodies truly are never the same afterward. Sometimes, more than our body changes. We may experience a shift in mood, cravings, desires, hobbies, and more.
One of the most prominent changes I found I experienced was a change in wardrobe. I no longer fit, nor did I have the energy to wear my skinny jeans. I wanted – you guess it – mum jeans. Anything that allowed me to bend over and pick up my fit-throwing toddler without revealing my new love handles, or covered my kangaroo pouch and made me look skinny again.
I know, some of you didn’t have a problem resuming your workout routine, getting fit again in a matter of weeks. But for those of you who have embraced the new you, you should embrace new jeans with it. Honestly, there’s nothing better than a comfortable pair of jeans that makes you look good and feel great.
Mum jeans don’t have to be unflattering. In fact, high-waisted trousers are in. These types of jeans are form fitting, and they hug your tummy so that you have the coverage you need and you appear to be thinner in the midsection.
There’s no shame in feeling a little insecure with your new self. You may wish you could get up and go for a jog every morning, but it’s just not your time. There will be time for that later when your kids move out. Right now, enjoy these moments with your little one and style your new wardrobe to enable those adventures, not prohibit them.
You can do so much more when you feel comfortable, and much like your life will be forever changed by the entrance of your bundle of joy, so will your body. Take the time to find your new favorite mum jeans so you and your little one can enjoy one another.
