If you live in Europe and fancy a quick weekend getaway, or you live further afield and are planning to travel through the continent, Europe has many cities and exciting opportunities to offer. Therefore, here are 6 European city breaks that absolutely need to be on your bucket list.

London, UK

According to the City of London official site, London benefits from 21 million visitors to the city every year. This is because London is one of the best cities in the world, boasting world-class museums, art galleries, and a rich history dating before the Romans.

When you visit London, why not take advantage of the great transport links and stay a little further out of the centre in one of London’s many bustling and vibrant neighbourhoods. Hotels in Shepherds Bush are a great choice for your city break to the UK’s capital.

Paris, France

Though London might take the title of most visited city in Europe by number of bed nights, Paris comes in a close second! It is hardly surprising when Paris boasts the Mona Lisa, Disney Land, the Eiffel Tower, and many other museums, galleries, landmarks, and monuments.

Not to mention the food – croissants, crepes, pastries, and bread galore, all washed down with a large glass of smooth French red wine.

Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona is full of places to experience Catalan culture, relax on the beach, and view magnificent Gaudí buildings. The highlight of it all has to be the Basílica de la Sagrada Família, a large unfinished Roman Catholic Basilica in the Eixample district which began construction in 1882.

Again, the food in Barcelona is incredible! Find a local foodie spot for a leisurely sharing meal. Order a bit of everything in the traditional tapas style, plus of course some freshly squeezed orange juice and a jug of Sangria.

Berlin, Germany

Whilst the other cities may have one been the more obvious choice for a European city break, Berlin is quickly becoming a popular destination. Berlin is packed with modern history, world class museums and galleries, and hosts a one-of-a-kind club scene and a bohemian atmosphere.

Must visit places for your trip to Berlin includes the Brandenburg Gage in the Pariser Platz, Checkpoint Charlie, the Berlin Wall and the East Side Gallery, and the Sachsenhausen Memorial and Museum. For more of a light-hearted activity, why not jump on a beer bike to sample Germany’s greatest beers.

Rome, Italy

Rome is the capital of one of the world’s most powerful ancient empires, which has been inspiring people to visit for thousands of years. For this reason, Rome has a wonderfully eclectic mix of modern structures built around ancient columns, ruins, temples, and cobblestones.

With tourist attractions such as the Colosseum, Pantheon, the Sistine Chapel, and Vatican City (the world’s smallest state and centre of the Roman Catholic Church, located within Rome), Rome is certainly worthy of a place on your bucket list – and that’s without even mentioning the pasta!

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Amsterdam is full of unconventional restaurants and quirky craft breweries, in addition to world class museums and canals. This city is a melting pot of numerous cultures, perfect for anyone who wants to explore the world atop of a bike.

With these 6 European cities on your bucket list, all that is left to do is to start exploring the beautiful architecture and diverse culture that Europe has to offer.
