Blogging Goals 2022

Share this post with your friends!

It’s that time of year again – time to assess last year’s blogging goals and note down some new aspirations for 2022. It’s been an incredible year of blogging and I am pleased to say that on the whole, my goals have been well and truly pulverised! Let’s take a look at each goal from 2021 in turn, before moving onto blogging goals for 2022.

Blogging goals 2021

1. Get to 35k sessions per month or 420k for the year

Thanks to another national lockdown, I was already averaging 40k sessions+ by the end of Feb! I finished the year with 546k sessions for 2021 – an average of 45k sessions a month. October, November and December have all been 50k+ months!

2. Get DA/DR to 30

Both Domain Authority and Domain Rating finally hit the dizzying heights of the 30s this year! I had a mention in an article in The Guardian back in May which boosted my score by 4 points OVERNIGHT! Domain Rating dropped back down again a few weeks later, however my DA has remained steady between 30 and 32!

3. Earn £1000 per month

Another goal smashed I am so pleased to say! I had my best ever year in terms of earnings thanks mostly to my ad partner Mediavine who are just incredible. If your blog is getting over 50k sessions per month, I couldn’t recommend a better ad partner.

I won’t go into specific numbers, but I earned more than double what I did in 2020 and I’m determined to keep this figure growing!

My best ever day in terms of Mediavine income was November 28th where I earned $74.86 of passive income in a single day. I will definitely be aiming to achieve a triple figure day in 2022!

4. Create 50 new pieces of content

I fell very short of this goal which is a huge shame as if I’d worked harder on this one, I am sure my income could have tripled. I managed around fifteen new pieces of content. Ouch.

This is one I’m going to definitely work harder to achieve in 2022.

Blogging Goals for 2022:

1. Achieve 600,000 sessions

I am determined to keep my sessions growing in 2022 – more sessions = more passive income! 600,000 sessions in 2022 equates to around 1650 sessions a day.

How will I do this? I will continue to optimise old posts and create new ones (honest!) I’ll also be looking to drive sessions through email marketing (more on this below).

2. Create 120 new pieces of content

I know after failing to write 50 new pieces of content in 2021 that it seems a bit crazy that I have more than doubled this target for 2022 – but I have a strong plan in place and I am determined to stick to it.

I have become a bit of a whizz (thanks to my day job) in creating beautiful spreadsheets and content plans that work. If I can do this for my clients – what’s stopping me doing it for my own blog (apart from time, motivation, life getting in the way etc(!) of course).

So, I have created a plan for the next four months and I have a designated day each month where I can cook and photograph my recipes and time mapped out during the week where I can write.

I have also created a draft template for my blog posts to save time so I can just simply duplicate them and add in the content. Gutenberg blocks have also been a game changer for me. I can now quickly insert blocks containing affiliate content, similar posts and stunning Create cards (also powered by Mediavine!)

3. Earn £30,000 over the course of the year

With my Mediavine revenue already 60% up for the first two days of Jan compared to Jan 2021, I am hoping that with continued content creation and on-going optimisation that I’ll be able to hit a target of £30k revenue for 2022. It’s a big ask – but with hard work, I am hoping it’ll pay off!

4. Set up email marketing

My final goal for 2022 is to make the most of my ever growing email list and start sending out a regular email series with links to my latest blogs. I am hoping to also share some affiliate content on these emails to boost affiliate earnings as well as driving more traffic to my blog.
