3 tips to make your move less stressful

Moving home with children underfoot can be rather strenuous. From making that decision to leave your current home to finding the right property to buy, you may feel a significant amount of stress at each step of the journey. However, rather than simply accepting this as your fate for the next few weeks or months, you may instead want to consider using some tips that can reduce some of this burden.

Speak to professionals

Finding a realty broker that you can trust, such as the one here, can be a rather important part of the process. This may mean that you have someone to liaise with regarding ideas, rather than just your partner or close family. Alongside this, once you have chosen a company, you may be able to get them to do some of the searching for you. Depending on the broker you put your faith in, some might also offer a concierge service to help you get your home ready for sale, whether that be undertaking building or decorative works, or even ensuring it is clean and tidy for photographs and viewing. Being able to do all of this online, rather than needing to go into an office during their opening hours, could also allow you to deal with your sale and purchase at a time that suits you.

Be patient

While you may want to get your move over with as soon as possible, this may be a poorly thought-out decision. Firstly, you might need to take your time so that you don’t regret the property you buy at a later date. In addition to this, you may also want to hold out for a better offer on your current home, especially if any offers you receive to begin with, are distinctly lower than your asking price. On the other side of things, it can also be useful to check what is going on in terms of property prices, so that you can try and buy when prices are lower.

Simplify moving day

Once you have dealt with the paperwork, and you have a date to move, you may feel like a lot of the stress is over. However, the day that you move house can involve a lot of work, especially if you aren’t using a removal company. One of the ways you can make the actual move a lot easier can be to label each box with the room it needs to go to, as well as a brief mention of what is inside. Knowing that a box is full of ‘KITCHEN – PLATES’ or ‘STUDY – BOOKS’ can allow you to better position the boxes and make unpacking less strenuous.

Moving house may not be easy, but that doesn’t mean you need to accept stress as a part of your life. Looking for ways to make it easier, both by training yourself in patience and finding ways to cut down on the work, may allow you to have a clearer mind.
