Best Apps for Parents

When you have children, you’re going to spend a lot of time doing a lot of things you didn’t used to. You’re going to find yourself with a lot of responsibility and a huge to-do list to ensure that they have everything they need, as and when they need it. You’ll have to learn a lot about parenting, their individual and unique interests and preferences and so much more. Of course, parenting is a learning curve and it’s something that we all get better with over time. But you need to remember that you’re not alone in this. You don’t have to just be thrown into the deep end and get on with it yourself. There are resources and other forms of support out there that can help you along this journey. One area you might not have considered yet is apps. When we think of apps, we tend to think of functional additions to our day (such as alarm clock apps), entertainment and socialisation (such as social networks) and more. But there are so many apps that can help with parenting that you might want to consider downloading and trying. Here are some to add to your list.

A Family Organizer

There are all sorts of events in the average parent’s diary. Their own plans. Their partner’s plans. Their children’s plans. It’s not all too surprising that things can quickly become confusing. You don’t want to experience issues such as double booking, or arranging times for activities that don’t allow you to get from one to another. Having an app that serves as a calendar or family organizer can make such a huge difference! It provides you with a space to add all of the things you’ve agreed to do and makes it clear what days and times they take place on. If you use a calendar or organizer that can be shared or connected with other people, this will prove ideal if you have a partner, as you can both add and update as you go, with the other person able to easily view changes as they occur. It’s also good to make sure that they’re uploaded to a cloud or external storage platform, as there are all sorts of reason why your phone may need restarting or resetting.

To-Do List Apps

As a parent, you’ll find that having somewhere to store your to-dos is extremely important. Often, we find that we realise we need to do something or are asked to do something, but are distracted or preoccupied by our own children so soon after being asked or saying yes, that we completely forget about the things we need to do. Instead, have an app where you can create some sort of to do list and make sure to add activities or chores to it as soon as they come to mind. This way, you can then refer to your list when you are available and do have some time on your hands, to be able to get through everything you wanted to.

Forums

There are plenty of online forums that are geared towards parents and parenting. These spaces provide a place where people can ask questions, share concerns and provide support and answers to others. If you download an app that allows you to connect to a parenting forum, you can quickly find yourself with a space to vent or seek answers that will help you and your little ones in the long run.

Games Apps

Of course, the majority of us don’t want our kids to sit in front of screens day in and day out. But every so often, you may find that you need to distract and entertain your kids in a public space where we might not have much else available to us. Consider games apps with educational kids games that they can enjoy as and when required while you’re out and about. Alternatively, you may want to consider apps that allow you to stream some of their favourite films or shows.

Sleep Apps

A lot of parents find themselves struggling to sleep. This is standard when you have a newborn, but as your kids grow older and begin to settle down more easily at night, you need to make sure that you’re doing the same too. Often, we struggle to sleep because we are anxious, stressed or simply trying to make up for lost time during the day. But sleep apps can help to counteract all this, guiding you into a peaceful slumber.

These are just a few apps that are out there, but they can really help to make your life a little more simple and straightforward. Hopefully, some will appeal to you and you’ll be able to download them and get some good use out of them!
