Making Time for Yourself as a Mum

Share this post with your friends!

There’s a lot to think about when you’re a new mom, and it’s easy to run yourself into the ground. Your energy can be going down by the second, but you still find a way to keep going. You will hear all kinds of stories from different moms. Some wore their pre-pregnancy clothes home from the hospital, while others still have a baby belly three years later. There is no right or wrong way to deal with being a new mom, but one thing is for sure: you need to think about your fitness and energy levels. They do go together, and by the end of the day, you’ll be running after a toddler and possibly other kids.

Check out some of the easy ways listed below to get your energy back and slowly build up your exercise:

Get Walking

Some people think that walking isn’t enough exercise, but it’s a great way to sneak in exercise and build up your energy as you feel up to it. Walking is not only a sneaky way to get exercise, but it can also be the best exercise for a new mom, especially in the first few weeks after giving birth. Let’s be honest, you won’t be going for a run. Also, there’s no rule that says you can’t burn the same number of calories, it will just take longer. It’s also great if you start to notice that your new baby gets crankier at a certain time of day. A walk in the fresh air could be just what they and you need.

Get The Kids Involved

If you start doing healthy things for yourself as soon as your child is born, you will be teaching them healthy things for their future. Start by taking them out in a stroller, and as they get older, go a little further. For example, go on a hike or buy a bike seat so the whole family can ride bikes together. You can also do things like baby workouts, where you do exercises like squats and lunges while holding the baby. You may not want to force yourself to exercise, but if you do, you’re sure to feel more energetic. If you have older kids grab some Kids Roller Skates and head out to the local park.

Your Fodd And Water

How well you eat and drink is the most important thing for your energy level and fitness goals. Who can blame you if you ate too much when you were pregnant? But one of the easiest ways to get more energy is to make sure you eat and drink the right amounts and the right things.

If you want your body to work well, you need to feed it the right things. Instead of grabbing a quick biscuit, do some research on healthier options and plan some meals. You could always put a water bottle in your diaper bag to remind you to drink water during the day.

Even more so if you’re a new mom, you should always make changes to your daily life slowly. Always listen to what your body is telling you, and have fun showing your kids how to live a healthy life.
