If you are a busy mother, then you may feel as though you never have any time for yourself. This is understandable, especially if you are constantly trying to take care of your kids. That being said, there are some things that you can do to nourish your time and your body, without you having to take time away from your children or your home.

Go on a Walk

Taking time to go out on a little walk, whether it is five minutes or whether it is simply a stroll around the block can be a real game-changer when it comes to your mental health. Getting some fresh air or even a change of scenery can give you a chance to reset and charge your mental batteries. If you can do this for yourself, then you will soon find that you have a chance to reset.

Meditate

Believe it or not, mindful meditation is one of the best ways for you to truly recharge. It also comes with a number of health benefits too. Research has shown time and time again that meditation is a fantastic way for you to beat insomnia, depression, and even anxiety. If you are completely new to the idea of meditation, then you should know that there are many resources out there that you can use. It doesn’t matter whether you are a new mother, or whether you have a few young kids because meditation can be a fantastic way for you to let go of stress and focus on what matters to you.

Read

Putting down your phone and delving into a good book can help you to shut off your mind after a long day. If you want to try and keep yourself motivated with reading or if you struggle to stick with a book, then you are not alone. A lot of busy mothers find themselves in the same position, but that being said, it is possible for you to work around this. One thing you can do is join a virtual book club. You can then meet new people who may have the same interests as you.

Pamper Yourself

It doesn’t matter whether you opt for a sheet mask or whether you decide to go for a home pedicure because having a few extra minutes to pamper yourself during the day can help you to unwind and de-stress more than you realise. If you can, you need to try and combine your pamper session with a nice TV show or something that makes you feel at ease. Maybe even make yourself a hot drink if you would find this comforting. When you do, you will soon find that you end up feeling way better about yourself overall. You can even take a trip to the salon if you have the time. When you do, just make sure you know how to take care of your hair when you get home so you can learn the best ways to begin caring for highlights and lowlights.

Keep a Diary

Putting any thoughts that you may have down on paper can sometimes help you to check in with yourself, and it can also help you to deal with any overwhelming feelings you may have. If you don’t know where to begin, then simply try and do a quick search for some guided journals. This will help you to channel your thoughts in a positive way, and it will also push you to talk about things that will help you in the long run. Gratitude journals are great too, so if you see one like this then don’t be afraid to pick it up for yourself.

Take a Day off from Social Media

If you can, it is imperative that you take a day off social media. Going off the grid can mean great things for your mental health. If you can take the time to delete any social media apps you may have, this will do you the world of good. In fact, you might actually find that you have a lot more energy in the day and that you are able to be more present with your family. This can be a very good form of self-care so do not overlook it and take the time to realise how much it could be harming your mental health. After all, seeing posts about people looking perfect can put a downer on your own life, even if what you see isn’t always how it really is.
