How to Serve Courgette to Baby

Courgette, also known as zucchini, is a nutritious vegetable that can be introduced to babies around 6 to 8 months old. Here’s how you can serve courgette to your baby:

Preparation: Wash the courgette thoroughly and remove the ends. You can leave the skin on or peel it, depending on your preference.

Cooking: Steam or boil the courgette until it becomes tender. Avoid overcooking to retain nutrients.

Mashing: Once cooked, mash the courgette with a fork or blend it to a suitable texture for your baby. You can also mix it with other cooked vegetables or grains for added variety.

Serving: Allow the mashed courgette to cool down to an appropriate temperature and offer it to your baby.

What’s the best steamer to use?

You can choose a stand alone steamer or one that sits on your stove top. Both have their own pros and cons, but we always used a stand alone three tiered steamer so we could steam in bulk. Batch cooking was always important to me when I was weaning my babies.

What are the Health Benefits of Offering Courgette to Your Baby?

Courgettes soak up the flavour of the herbs and spices you use alongside them and make a welcome addition to so many different meal ideas. This is why we use it so much when we are baby led weaning.

    Courgettes are:

    • Rich in potassium
    • Full of Vitamin A and Vitamin D
    • Healthy, tasty and super versatile when it comes to using them in your home cooked meals.
